Right to Protein Run

History

Given the low level of awareness among policy makers, professionals, and general public on the importance of protein as a part of the balanced diet, Nepal Veterinary Association, a professional association of all Nepalese Veterinarians, with support from the US Soy and in partnership with the Nepal Feed Industries Association and technical support from the Nepal Athletics Association organized a half marathon and other running events under the theme of “Run for Protein” on 18 December 2021. This was a first of its kind of event in Nepal.

The event was successfully conducted with an estimated 2,000 professional and amateur athletes participating in the event. Several national level top-notch athletes participated in the event which was well-covered in the national print and broadcast media giving the key message of the importance of protein to millions of people.

The success of the first event has motivated Nepal Veterinary Association and our primary sponsor US Soy to come up with the similar event this year. In 2023, we bring to you our half marathon and other running events under the theme of “Right to Protein” and name the event as “Right to Protein Run”. We believe that every individual has a right to get the required amount of protein they need for their optimum health.  The proposed marathon titled “Right to Protein Run” will educate people on their protein requirement and simple mathematics to calculate protein intake from common food they consume on a daily basis.
